I went to Mongolia in 1992 and 1997. I wanted to capture on film the timelessness and universality of this seldom photographed, little-known nation of a proud ancient people.  I wanted to photograph Mongolia’s ancient nomadic heritage, its recent communist past, its transition to multiparty politics and market economy and its indomitable spirit as it entered the twenty-first century.
