In the 1960's I went to demonstrations, camera in hand, to infuse (my) art with social activism.  More than the historic record of the demonstrations I photographed, I wanted my pictures, through their plastic organization and the faces of people demonstrating, to capture the emotional and ideological experience in which I too was a participant.
